Farmers on tractors protest in the capital of Bulgaria

SOFIA, Bulgaria (AP) - Grain producers who want higher state subsidies organized a blockade of tractors in the center of the Bulgarian capital Tuesday, the entanglement of downtown traffic.

Some 170 tractors were parked on the square between Parliament and the landmark Alexander Nevski Cathedral, the demonstrators left their vehicle and March-through pouring rain to the seat of government.

Farmers were farming their heavy equipment deployed on major highways and border crossings for a week.

They pressure the government to maintain subsidies for next year before the elections in October agreed in presidential and local.
